Quilt Gallery:
Serendipity Tea 2006

Serendipity holds a Mothers’ Day Tea where we display our quilts before donating them to charitable organizations. We also sell quilts at the Tea, using the proceeds to go towards the purchase of supplies.

Information about the quilts at the 2006 tea was provided by Susanne Gumprich and Sandy Cook . Not all quilts were photographed individually.

A selection of the quilts at the 2006 tea.

This quilt started as a Musical Mystery Sampler BOM from the guild. Dorothy Boran donated the blocks and Shirley Hoffman, Vi Weber, Lynn Libke and Sandy Cook finished it.

Crumb stars with curved sashing. This was a Serendipity BOM. Susanne G. provided the HSTs and everyone was asked to make a crumb centre. Sandy Allen and friends put this one together. For this particular quilt, Susanne provided many of the finished blocks, and the curved piecing. You can also see a close up here.
Random sampler, from fabric donated by Periwinkle that was leftover from the second Saturday Sampler from 2003-4. Vi Weber made most of this quilt.
Floating star; top donated by a Periwinkle customer, not a member of the guild. On point pinwheel in front, I believe was made by Lynn Libke.
Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend. Vi Weber started this for the 2005 Quilt Show guild challenge, and then donated it.
Left over quilt. Vi Weber made this one from leftover bits after a Saturday meeting where we made Star Flings. Everyone was given a bucket to put the scraps in!
Crumbs blocks on point. This quilt was made with an adjacent set, but with a few well placed cuts, every thing is now on point! This is an Anita Hallock trick that we love to do at Serendipity.
A strippy quilt, made from Strips and Strings, in a design called Autumn Splendour. This one has a few variations, and is mainly in blues. I think this one was made by Hilda, Vi's sister.
The bright quilt in the front and centre was a top donated by Michelle Harris; we added the borders only. The log cabin in the left background was also from Michelle, donated as blocks. The quilt in the top right background seen here close up, was made by Lynn Libke.
The quilt top, partially completed, was donated by Mary Campbell. Lynn Libke reworked it and this is the result. Zelma Hurd taught this class at a retreat; I believe it was titled “Value your Scraps”. It is from the book “Awash with Colour”.
Half log cabins quilt, left side of the photo. The top was donated by Shan Cochrane.
